In the societal fabric, names emerge such as Darío Toviggino, brother of the AFA treasurer, and individuals closely tied to his inner circle. Among those mentioned are Juan Pablo Beacon, described as being of maximum proximity to Toviggino, Mauro Paz, former head of Malte SRL, and Gabriel Gorosito, founder of the firm in Santiago del Estero, the province of the treasurer's political and sporting origins. Within this group, Tapia and Toviggino stand out for their institutional weight within the AFA, but direct relatives, close collaborators, and individuals linked to companies that, on paper, appeared as the property owners also appear. The investigation relied on a series of clues that, when evaluated together, reinforced the hypothesis of a concealment maneuver. Buenos Aires, January 22, 2026 - Total News Agency - TNA - Before stepping aside from the case by decision of the Federal Chamber of San Martín, the judge in Economic Matters, Marcelo Aguinsky, had gathered elements pointing to the fact that the president of the Argentine Football Association, Claudio 'Chiqui' Tapia, and the entity's treasurer, Pablo Toviggino, along with family members and people from their circle, would be the true owners of the luxurious mansion located in Pilar, formally registered in the name of intermediary companies. A judicial document incorporated into the file and analyzed by the magistrate contained a list of 13 people on whom the Justice system focused its suspicions as possible real owners of the property. The purpose of the summons was to identify the transported passengers, but both claimed not to remember any of the people consulted, including the 13 on the list drawn up by the judge. In a ruling prior to his recusal, Aguinsky stated that the main hypothesis of the investigation was that the house would have been acquired with funds from the AFA, under a scheme of companies and frontmen. Among them, the lack of declared economic capacity of the current formal owners of the property, Luciano Pantano and his mother Ana Lucía Conte, who appear as owners through the company Real Central SRL. The Justice system detected the use of a corporate credit card from the AFA with which, between January and December 2025, monthly million-dollar expenditures would have been made. With the transfer of the file to the federal Justice of Campana, a new stage in the case now opens, although the elements gathered so far outline a scenario of strong compromise for the leadership of Argentine football. Sources consulted: Clarín, judicial files, corporate registries, public information from the Judicial Power. The list is completed by Carlos Bruno Seguel, Orlando Martín López, Gabriela Verónica Coronel Peña, Olga Delgado and Fernando Figueroa, all with different degrees of corporate ties or judicial backgrounds that caught the magistrate's interest. In the framework of the case, the two helicopter pilots who made, between them, 54 flights to and from the mansion, which has a helipad, testified as witnesses. Among them is Malte SRL, the firm that in 2017 acquired the land where the mansion was later built, purchased from former footballer Carlos Tevez. For the judge, this data reinforced the presumption that AFA funds would have been used for the acquisition and maintenance of the mansion. During the raids, elements were also found that directly implicated the entity's treasurer: blue vehicle registration slips issued in the name of Toviggino's relatives, an institutional AFA briefcase and a plaque from the Barracas Central club with his name, findings that the magistrate considered incompatible with the version that the executive had no relation to the property. Another axis of the investigation was the analysis of the companies involved in the chain of title to the property. Part of these expenses included tolls, services and disbursements linked to vehicles and housing unrelated to the formal activity of the sports association. According to the file, neither of them has income compatible with a property of these characteristics. Pantano's role is central to the case.
AFA Leadership Under Investigation
A judicial investigation in Argentina suggests that the president and treasurer of the AFA, Claudio Tapia and Pablo Toviggino, may be the real owners of a luxury mansion allegedly purchased with the association's funds. The investigation has uncovered a chain of front companies and individuals from their circle.
